Halloween is approaching, and so I decided to whip up a few sweet treats that are both delicious and healthy. Sweet and salty is one of my favourite combination of flavours, but sadly the chocolates that you usually buy at the store often have nuts in the recipe. These little yummies are great for homemade treat bags and they are oh so simple to make. Enjoy!
Chocolate Dipped Pretzels
- Classic Style Pretzels (I use Rold Gold)
- 8 oz Semi-Sweet chocolate (dairy-free if possible)
- 1/2 tsp Coconut Oil
- 1/2 cup Hulled Hemp Hearts
In a double boiler, melt the chocolate and coconut oil. In the meantime, prepare two baking sheets lined with wax paper and a medium plate for the hemp hearts. When chocolate is smooth and melted, turn off heat and start dipping your pretzels. Cover half of the pretzel in chocolate, shake off the excess until it no longer drips. Lightly dip both sides in the hemp hearts, and place on the baking sheet. Let cool and harden. Store in an air tight container in a cool, dry place.
